Ambassador of Ireland to Tanzania

Nicola Brennan

Welcome message

Dia dhaoibh go léir. Fáilte go hAmbasáid na hÉireann!

Welcome to the website of the Embassy of Ireland in Tanzania. In addition to providing information on the services provided by the Embassy, it also contains information on the bilateral relationship between Ireland and Tanzania.

Ireland has a long-standing relationship with Tanzania. Our bilateral ties and partnerships stretch across cultural, political, development co-operation and trade. The Embassy of Ireland in Tanzania celebrated its 40-year anniversary in 2019 and we continue to build on this presence and history.

When Mwalimu Julius Nyerere spoke at a State dinner during his visit to Ireland in 1979, he said that he was not surprised that he felt so at home. He recalled the many Irish people that had worked in Tanzania and spoke of the strong human dimension to Irish-Tanzanian relations. Today we continue to build on these historic connections.

The Embassy of Ireland is focused on deepening its bilateral relations with the Government of Tanzania and the Governments’ of Burundi, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo and Seychelles, countries to which the Embassy is also accredited. The Embassy is also accredited to the East African Community and continues to deepen its ties with this organisation.

I hope you will find this website useful and informative. You may have a particular interest in finding out more about our services and visa processing or our fellowships. Should you wish to ask a question, or be added to our database for our Irish community and friends, please contact us.
