Having arrived to Norway in August 2023, Claire Buckley is the Ambassador of Ireland to Norway as well as to Iceland on a non-resident basis.

It is a great privilege for me to serve as Ambassador of Ireland to Norway as well as on a non-resident basis to Iceland. Together with the team at the Embassy of Ireland, I am proud to promote stronger cooperation and foster mutual understanding between the Government and people of Ireland and Norway as well as Iceland.

Norway and Ireland are small, like-minded nations with deep bonds of friendship and shared values. In 2024, we mark 75 years of diplomatic relations but, of course, our historic links date back to the time of the Vikings. Like my predecessors, I have been delighted to discover the variety of those historical as well as more recent links between Norway and Ireland, whether political, cultural, business or tourism.

To support our work, we have Honorary Consulates in Bergen (Norway) and in Reykjavik (Iceland), who cooperate closely with the Embassy, and assist Irish citizens in consular matters as well as identifying opportunities for greater collaboration in business and culture.

We are proud to support and cooperate with our Irish communities and Irish organisations in both Norway and Iceland.
