Consul General of Ireland in Mumbai

I am honoured to represent Ireland as our Consul General in Mumbai. The Consulate General of Ireland in Mumbai has consular jurisdiction for the States of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa and the Union Territories of Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.

This website provides information on the work of the Consulate team, as well as our colleagues in the Embassy of Ireland, New Delhi and of the Irish State Agencies working in India. The Consulate General was established in 2019 in recognition of the ever growing links between Ireland and western India. This friendship encompasses strengthening ties across diplomacy, culture, business, tourism, trade, and people-to-people links. Our focus includes providing high quality consular services and support for Irish citizens and visitors in western India.

The trade and investment links between Ireland and India continue to flourish and together with specialists from the Irish State agencies based together with us in Ireland House in Mumbai - IDA Ireland and Enterprise Ireland - engaging with the business sector in India is a key focus for us. Ireland is a natural location for Indian companies seeking a presence in the European Union, with a common language and legal system. Similar factors are relevant for Irish enterprise in India. We are excited to strengthen our network with Irish companies doing business with India and Indian companies investing, or aiming to invest, in Ireland. We look forward to the ongoing development of links across sectors including ICT, Pharma, Finance, Healthcare, and Education.

I look forward to meeting members of the Irish Community and friends of Ireland during my time as Consul General. I am also excited for the opportunities ahead to promote a greater awareness of Ireland, including through our arts and culture.

Patrick Duffy

Ard-Chonsal/Consul General

Consul General Patrick Duffy’s diplomatic career includes bilateral and multilateral expertise, developed across delivery of citizen services, trade, investment, economic and cultural diplomacy and international negotiation processes. Patrick looks forward to serving in India as Ireland’s Consul General in Mumbai.

Patrick has previously served as Ambassador of Ireland to Malta with postings also to Ireland’s Permanent Representation to the United Nations in New York, Ireland’s Consulate General to Scotland, and as Ireland’s Deputy Ambassador in Brasília.

Patrick’s previous headquarters assignments include roles within the Global Economic Unit, Political Division, Human Resources and Corporate Services Divisions, Communications Unit, Protocol Division and Anglo-Irish Division. Patrick also recently undertook a secondment to Ibec – the Irish Business and Employers Confederation.

Patrick is from Dublin and is a graduate of University College Dublin (Masters in Business Studies) and Trinity College Dublin (B.A. Hons. Business Studies and Political Science).
