Long time no sea

LongTime_Frame

The Plassey was a 600-tonne steam freighter ship that got caught in an Atlantic storm in the 1960s, colliding with Finnis Rock.

Eventually it was thrown onto rocks on the edge of Inis Oírr, the smallest of the Aran Islands off the coast of County Galway.

The rusting hulk of the shipwreck remains in place to this day, and is a powerful reminder to islanders and tourists alike of the power of the sea.
