Opening of Ireland House Tokyo
The home of Team Ireland in Japan
Ireland House Tokyo is the home of Team Ireland in Japan, comprising the Embassy, Official Residence and the Irish State Agencies based in Japan, Bord Bia, Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland.
Team Ireland in Japan uses the building to host a range of business and community events and exchanges, highlight modern and traditional Irish arts and culture, and help Ireland achieve its diplomatic, economic, educational and cultural goals in Japan.
Located in Yotsuya in central Tokyo, the building houses a multi-purpose state of the art performance, exhibition and conference space, and the Lafcadio Hearn library.
Ireland House Tokyo was officially opened by Ireland’s Taoiseach (prime minister), Micheál Martin T.D., on 2 July 2025.
Among the distinguished guests at the ceremony were Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado and Hisayuki Fujii, Japan’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs Secretary General of Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr. Joe Hackett, Ambassador of Ireland to Japan, H.E. Mr. Damien Cole, and representatives of Bord Bia, Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland.
We are honoured that An Taoiseach, who turned the sod on Ireland House three years ago, returned to formally open our new home in Japan. Ireland House reflects Ireland’s deep commitment to our relationship with Japan and is an attractive, modern and exciting platform which will strengthen our business engagement, diplomatic activity and cultural outreach for many years to come.
